What is Minostar RESTART?
The Minostar RESTART programme is our own solution, designed to extend the life cycle of roadheaders and other mining machines in line with the principles of circular economy. It was developed by combining our many years of experience in the mining industry with the latest technologies and safety standards to offer comprehensive repair and revamping services matched to the individual needs of our customers.
Our programme addresses the growing challenges of the mining industry – the need to optimise operating costs, extend the service life of specialised machinery and minimise environmental impact. Through the use of advanced repair and modernisation procedures, we are able to restore roadheaders operating in the most difficult operating conditions to full capacity, while maintaining the highest quality and meeting the most stringent safety standards.
As part of the RESTART programme, we have prepared three comprehensive options to suit different needs and requirements:
How does the RESTART programme work?
Each RESTART process begins with an analysis of equipment condition, which includes a review of the completeness of the relevant machine documentation, an assessment of structural elements and an inspection of the condition of individual components. We then provide a list of recommended measures to improve the productivity and reliability, and a list of mechanical and hydraulic components to be expanded – all with the customer’s needs in mind.
Once the modernisation processes have been completed, the user receives full documentation with the machine including updated operating instructions, spare parts catalogue and guarantee. Information related to repair or revamping is documented for the needs of future maintenance, servicing, repairs and subsequent upgrades.
All RESTART options are based on a full range of services related to customisation, servicing and technical support for equipment during the guarantee and post-guarantee period. Our programme is focused on ensuring high quality, safety, durability and performance of parts and components we use.
The variety of options means that we are ready to meet your needs. Whether you are looking for the standard solutions you are already familiar with or planning a major rebuild of your machine, we will ensure that your equipment is well taken care of at every stage of its life cycle.
Option one: RESTORE
Under the RESTORE option, a major overhaul – restoration – is carried out, consisting in a repair made in accordance with the current state of technical knowledge and the principles of good engineering practice in order to restore (recreate) the parameters and performance values of a machine without making significant changes to its parameters, application and type. Overhaul is carried out in a way that guarantees safe use and does not entail generation of a new machine. Equipment (machinery) repaired in such a way will have a level of safety not less than that required by the original regulations under which the machinery or equipment was placed on a given market.
Who can benefit from this variant?
Advantages of Minostar RESTART: RESTORE
- Extending the service life of machinery - a major overhaul restores the machine to near-new condition, allowing it to continue operation for many years and avoiding the need to purchase new equipment.
- Adapting the machine to current standards - by carrying out a major overhaul, we can bring the machine into compliance with current standards and regulations, which is particularly important in terms of safety and environmental protection.
- Minimising the risk of failure - thanks to a comprehensive maintenance programme, replacement and standardisation of spare parts, the risk of unexpected failures is significantly reduced.
- Saving money - overhaul of a machine is always a cheaper and quicker option than buying a new unit, allowing you to save money and valuable time.
- Maintaining the specifications and unique features of a machine - specialised machines are often designed according to the customer’s specific needs and in a manner typical for a given production process. A general overhaul allows them to be preserved in their original state, which can be difficult to achieve when buying new equipment.
Option two: REBUILD
The REBUILD option is a comprehensive machine upgrade consisting in rebuilding individual machine components according to the customer’s needs. Such rebuilding may involve implementation of modern solutions available on the market or upgrading one or more parts or sub-assemblies without making significant changes in the parameters, application or type of the machine to be revamped.
Drawing on our extensive experience, we offer modernisation and improvement of the machine leading to an increase in its value at a cost significantly lower than in case of buying new equipment. We ensure safety in accordance with the latest standards, which is why, in case of revamping, we always perform a risk analysis and assessment to demonstrate that the security measures in place are sufficient, and that the risks themselves are sufficiently supervised and are at an acceptable (tolerable) level.
All these aspects, combined with the full functionality of the unit and its components ensured by our intervention, guarantee the required level of safety.
Who can benefit from this variant?
Advantages of the REBUILD option
- Increased productivity - the use of modern technologies (new, more advanced components) allows tasks to be performed faster and more precisely, improving the overall productivity of a machine.
- Reduced operating costs - rebuilt machines require less operation and maintenance, resulting in lower operating costs.
- Improved quality and production flexibility - modern components improve the precision and repeatability of processes, leading to higher production quality and enabling quick response to changing market requirements by adapting new production processes without the need for lengthy downtimes.
- Better reliability - revamping a machine allows obsolete, faulty components to be replaced, reducing the risk of downtime and failure.
- Longer machine life - rebuilding, especially in case of replacing worn components or replacing them with newer solutions, allows to extend the life of a machine.
- Guarantee of safety level - rebuilding is carried out while maintaining the level of safety required by the original regulations that formed the basis for placing the machine on the market.
- Reduced environmental impact - rebuilt machines use fewer raw materials and generate less waste, which contributes to more sustainable and ecological production in line with the idea of circular economy.
Option three: REMODEL
MINOSTAR RESTART in the REMODEL variant is a comprehensive process aimed at extending the scope of application of a given machine compared to the initial state declared by the manufacturer in the manual.
If the machine is upgraded at the customer’s request (e.g. to improve performance), then changes to the structural elements are required. The scope of the intended use is then extended and the machine can be considered a new product in the light of the applicable legislation.
Full-scale remodelling means increased reliability (without incurring new investment expenditure to achieve better durability and production capacities) as well as improved safety level and reduced maintenance costs with a full guarantee as for a new machine.
Who can benefit from this variant?
Advantages of the REMODEL option
- Adaptation to new norms and standards – upgraded machines meet the latest safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Integration with IT systems – machines can be more easily integrated into production management systems after upgrades, allowing for better control of production processes.
- Increased productivity – the use of modern technologies (new, more advanced components) allows tasks to be carried out faster and more precisely, improving the overall productivity of the machine.
- Reduced operating costs – rebuilt machines require less operation and maintenance, resulting in lower operating costs.
- Improved quality and production flexibility – modern components improve the precision and repeatability of processes, leading to higher production quality and enabling quick response to changing market requirements by adapting new production processes without the need for lengthy downtimes.
- Better reliability – revamping allows obsolete, faulty components to be replaced, reducing the risk of downtime and failure.
- Longer machine life – rebuilding, especially in case of replacing worn components or replacing them with newer solutions, allows to extend the life of a machine.
- Guarantee of safety level – rebuilding is carried out while maintaining the level of safety required by the original regulations that formed the basis for placing the machine on the market.
- Reduced environmental impact – rebuilt machines use fewer raw materials and generate less waste, which contributes to more sustainable and environmentally friendly production.
